Chattanooga Girls Rock Camp

CGR’s Camp is a one-week, empowerment-based music education and performance summer day program for girls aged 10-17! Absolutely no experience is necessary, and we can accommodate all learning styles and proficiency levels (from beginning to advanced players).

In one week, the campers will choose an instrument (guitar, bass, keys, drums, or vocals), receive instruction, form a band with fellow campers, and write an original song in the style of their choice. The bands then perform their music at a Showcase Concert at the end of the week (Saturday afternoon) at Songbirds, a professional music venue downtown!

Throughout the week campers also have the opportunity to participate in supplementary workshop tracks. In years past these have included videography, DIY/screenprinting/zine making, DJing, sound engineering/recording, and community organizing. Each day, campers hear speakers from the community talk about their various experiences as women in the music industry and beyond - and a bunch of local/regional woman-fronted bands perform just for us at lunchtime!

Accessibility is a priority for us, therefore tuition is based on a sliding scale in order to make camp affordable for every family. We provide breakfast and lunch for the campers that need it, all materials and instruments for their use that week, and can provide transportation for a very limited number of campers that otherwise couldn't make it to and/or from camp that week.  We will happily do our best to make all necessary modifications to the camp scheduling/layout, instruction periods and even the instruments themselves so that campers with different abilities (whether physical or neurological/behavioral) can participate comfortably.
